russia\'s leading dairy products and fruit juices company is set to launch an initial public offering on the new york stock exchange in the next few weeks. wimm bill dann, which sells j7 brand of juices, as well as milk, yoghurt and other products, is set to offer 25-30 per cent of its expanded share capital via a listing of american depositary receipts. the company, which is privately held by a small group of executives, is believed to be preparing to offer its shares in late january, with the deal being closed shortly afterwards.

french dairy giant group danone is reviving its plans for india. it has now proposed to convert its proposed 80 per cent subsidiary into a 100 per cent company, and capitalise it to rs 150 crore over five years instead of the original plan for rs 306 crore. however, during the first phase, the company will make an initial investment of only around rs 14.5 crore. when the company first showed an interest in the indian market in 1996, it had proposed to make an equity investment of rs 245 crore.

fast food chain burger king announced yesterday it was to create 1,250 jobs next year. burger king, owned by drinks giant diageo, will generate the full and part time positions by opening 35 restaurants, bringing the total number of uk outlets up to 720. the move is part of a long-term plan to open 300 burger king restaurants over the next five years, creating a total of 11,000 jobs in the process.
