industry consulted on labels claiming 'natural' and 'pure'

the uk's food standards agency (fsa) is set to update industry guidelines on the use of words such as 'fresh', 'natural' and 'pure' in food labelling. the fsa last issued labelling guidelines on these marketing terms in 2002. it has now launched a consultation to adapt the advice in light of new developments in the food industry and growing concerns from consumers on the descriptions put onto some labels. more

diet and cancer are directly linked, with alcohol and red and processed meats posing particular risks, according to the world cancer research fund's (wcrf) study released this week. a panel of world-renowned scientists looked at 7,000 studies published since the 1960s. entitled food, nutrition, physical activity, and the prevention of cancer, the report includes 10 recommendations on how to prevent cancer. more

denny's reports weak q3 results

fox's halts production due to salmonella contamination

the maker of fox's glacier mints and other sweets has said that none of the affected products were released to the market. the company also said that the contamination was from a batch of brazil nuts at its leicester plant.the company, which has halted production on four lines, has started a testing and cleansing program under supervision of the food standards agency and the regional office of the environmental food team. more

g willi-food to purchase stake in shamir salads
