uk proposes co2 labelling for products

in a bid to push processors and other manufacturers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, the uk government yesterday unveiled a proposal to put "carbon footprint" labels on all products. the voluntary labelling scheme would help companies to measure the greenhouse gases associated with their their products and reduce them, said the environment minister, ian pearson. more

obesity white paper gives 3 years for self-regulation impact

the european commission yesterday adopted a white paper setting out a european strategy on nutrition, overweight and obesity, including plans to review progress in three years. the white paper, presented by health commissioner markos kyprianou, builds on existing efforts to address the problem of obesity, including the eu platform for action on diet, physical activity and health , initiated in 2005, and green paper on promoting healthy diets and physical activity published the same year. more
