papa john's international, an operator of pizza delivery and carryout restaurants, has posted a net income of $17.84m, or $0.64 per diluted share, for the first quarter ended march 29, 2009, compared to 2008 first quarter net income of $8.62m, or $0.3 per diluted share.the company posted revenues of $284.97m for the first quarter of 2009, representing a decrease of 1.4% from revenues of $289m for the same period in 2008. more

fda fails to reach state food safety audit targets

the food and drug administration (fda) has taken another blow as a us news organization published figures on thursday showing it is failing to meet its goals for auditing individual states’ food safety inspections. the fda aims to audit at least seven percent of food safety inspections that are carried out by state authorities on its behalf, in order to ensure they come up to a satisfactory standard. more
