ingredients firm dsm has received the first gain business award for innovation in nutrition 2008, presented at a ceremony during the recent gain (global alliance for improved nutrition) business alliance global forum in amsterdam. the netherlands company gained the award for its "innovative efforts in rice fortification", called nutririce. dsm, in cooperation with bühler, developed a new technology that produces rice kernels that are "indistinguishable from unfortified rice in looks and taste", and remain "highly nutritious " after washing and cooking.

as far as health foods go there aren't many that are as versatile or that pack the same nutritional punch as tahini. tahini is a thick paste made from ground up sesame seeds and is used predominantly in middle eastern dishes such as hummus. because the seeds are ground in to a paste tahini is very easy to digest, and many of its nutrients find their way in to the blood stream within about half an hour of consumption.
