the affected product, lafleur brand original wieners, is sold in a 450gm package bearing the upc 0 65305 02201 0 and best before code 2010 oc 22 lot 75022502. the five cases of this product were distributed only in quebec, in the following regions: montreal, laval, lanaudiere, laurentides, monteregie. however, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness. the manufacturer, olymel, from boucherville (quebec), has recalled the affected product from the marketplace. the cfia is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
